Protect the edge
Pool Coping in South Florida
Coping is the cap along the top of your pool wall. When it is solid, it protects the structure and finishes the look. When it cracks or loosens, water finds a way in.

What coping does
Coping is the cap on the pool shell wall. It separates the shell from the deck, protects the structure and keeps water from getting behind the shell. When properly installed, it also helps splash water flow away from the pool toward the drains instead of back toward the pool.

Signs your coping needs attention
- Loose, shifting or cracked coping stones or bricks
- Gaps or open joints where water can seep in
- Chipped or rough edges that are uncomfortable to sit or step on
- Staining or damage along the top of the pool wall
- Water pooling at the edge instead of draining away
Heavy summer rain, intense sun and shifting ground all work on a pool edge over time. Small problems are easier to correct before they let water behind the shell.
Coping and resurfacing go well together
Because the pool is empty during pool resurfacing, it is a practical time to address the edge. A fresh finish, new waterline tile and sound coping work as one system, and the pool looks finished from deck to floor.
Choosing the right coping
Material choices, edge profiles and color all affect how the pool reads. We help you balance looks, comfort underfoot and what suits your deck. Browse pools in our portfolio for ideas.
- Surface feel: coping should be comfortable for bare feet in hot sun
- Color: pick a tone that works with your deck, finish and tile
- Edge profile: rounded or squared edges change both look and comfort
- Drainage: the edge and deck should move water away from the pool
Pools with a screen enclosure, a raised spa or tight deck space can have special edge conditions. Tell us about them at your estimate and we will plan around them.
Repairing a few damaged pieces is sometimes enough, and sometimes the whole run needs replacing because the base underneath has moved or the joints have failed. We would rather show you what we find than sell you more than the pool needs. That is why the first step is always a look at the edge, followed by an honest recommendation and a clear explanation of the options.
We serve Palm Beach County, Broward County and Miami-Dade County. Request a free estimate for your pool edge.
The process
How pool coping works
- 01
Estimate and edge inspection
We look at the coping, the joints and how water moves across the deck so we can recommend repair or replacement.
- 02
Remove and prepare
Damaged coping is removed and the top of the pool wall is prepared so the new cap sits securely.
- 03
Install coping
New coping is set and aligned so the edge is even and water drains away from the shell as intended.
- 04
Final check and care tips
We check joints and edges, then explain how to look after the coping and when to call if something moves.
